Greenergy win Go-Ahead's first supplier sustainability award
The Go-Ahead Group has awarded its inaugural Sustainable Supplier Award to Greenergy, a provider of vehicle fuel, recognising strong management practices to address sustainable procurement principles.
Working in collaboration with Greenergy, a fuel provider company, allows Go-Ahead to operate some of the most modern low polluting buses in the country.
The Sustainable Supplier Award highlights best practice among Go-Ahead's suppliers, with a focus on Sustainable procurement ISO 20400:2017 principles – a new standard of supply chain transparency created with the input of experts and industry bodies from 40 countries. Go Ahead is on track to achieve certification under this new principle by the end of its financial year.
Initiatives undertaken by Greenergy that won praise from the judges included robust management practices to address safety, sustainability and efficiency across the organisation. Michelin and Wordline were also recognised as strong suppliers by the judging panel which included a representative from Business in the Community.
Go-Ahead’s Chief Financial Officer Patrick Butcher said: “Our partnership with Greenergy is based on mutually beneficial relationships that deliver value to society and the economy, and being at the forefront with low polluting buses"
“Our business is fundamentally sustainable as we take cars off the road. But this is not enough, we have a commitment to sustainable procurement and are working towards achieving ISO 20400:2017 which is the international accreditation for companies that integrate sustainability within procurement”
Collecting the award, Greenergy’s UK Trading Director, Caroline Lumbard, said:
“Over 10 years of investment, we have quietly developed uniquely traceable supply chains that allow us to blend sustainable, waste-based biodiesel into the diesel we supply to customers. We really appreciate the recognition that Go-Ahead has given to this work and thank them for their award today.”
